Becoming More of Yourself in 2013

source

I understand why new year's resolutions get a bad rap, but there's nothing wrong with seeing the new calendar year as an opportunity for a clean slate.  We just have to remember that a clean slate can be created with each new month, week, day or moment as well.  Too often we don't start things because we're afraid we won't finish them.  When's the last time you really challenged yourself?  When's the last time something didn't work out?  When's the last time you got up and tried again?

As far as challenges go, this will be a year of new endeavors and uncomfortable times for me.  Pencil skirt uncomfortable.  New shoes uncomfortable.  Not wedgie uncomfortable.  Make sense?

Some discomfort is necessary in order to grow more into yourself.  Join me in asking yourself the following questions to start the year with a strong sense of self-awareness.
  • What are your top 3-5 priorities right now?  Does your lifestyle reflect these priorities?  How can you take steps to change that?
  • Does your daily work reflect how your interests have changed over time?  Do you have projects and responsibilities that inspire you or that weigh you down?
  • How do you spend most of your free time?  Is this in line with the priorities you listed above?  Have you resigned yourself to the belief that you don't have a choice in the matter?
  • Do you feel strong enough to stand by your decisions when people criticize you?  Or when things don't fall into place perfectly right away?  Do you believe in yourself more than you care about what other people think?
Have you grabbed your journal yet?  Write these questions down and find some alone time to reflect and call yourself out as necessary.  Let's get to work.

Happy New Year, GG! I just typed the first item for a short list of priorities so this is right on time. May the year ahead be full of love, happiness and abundance ;-)!
